CustomerLink
This utility provides a way for GarageKeeper 2000 customers to use the
reminder mailing services of CustomerLink Systems. This document describes
exactly how to set up and use GarageKeeper to capture information for use with
CustomerLink. You can be running any Microsoft operating system Windows 95 or
later with this utility.
- Some of the data for this interface comes from the historic invoice
journal file. You will not be able to send information to CustomerLink if that
information is older than the cutoff date you have set. Go to F7, then enter 2
for Miscellaneous, then 14 for daily, weekly processing. If the period shown
for the number of weeks of data kept is too short, enter Weekly and increase
the number of weeks.
- CustomerLink needs consistent job titles to work properly. You must use
jobs with service reference numbers in order to be consistent and to give
GarageKeeper a way to collect the data for CustomerLink. If you have not been
using service jobs with reference numbers please contact Computer Assistance
or your local GarageKeeper dealer for assistance with a basic set of service
jobs.
- The utility program installs into your GKN folder. It uses the GKDRIV.DOC
file in the GKN folder to find the data files. If you can run rebuilders at
the station you want to use for this interface, you are already setup properly
to run this CustomerLink utility.
- You can run the utility directly by clicking on CLINK.BAT in the GKN
folder, or make a desktop icon, or add it to your GarageKeeper 2000 program
group. The command line is C:\GKN\CLINK.BAT
- When run, the utility it will ask you two questions. The first item that
will be requested is your CustomerLink number. This is a four digit number
that you will receive from CustomerLink. Next the utility will ask you for the
range of invoice dates you want covered.
- The utility makes a file xxxxxxxx.dat in the GKN\DATA folder. The first
four digits are your CustomerLink number. The second four digits show the date
the export was made. For example if a shop with a CustomerLink number of 1111
made a file on 0602, it would be labeled 11110602.dat. This is done so that
you can re-transmit a file to CustomerLink in case the e-mail fails or the
file received is incomplete. You need to attach this file to e-mail sent to
the proper address at CustomerLink. Currently this address is
repairorders@customerlink.com. You should put this in your e-mail address
book.
To sign up for this service go to
http://www.customerlink.com/content/contact-us
and fill in the form. Be sure to indicate that you are using GarageKeeper 2000
in the message section. CustomerLink will then contact you about the details.
When the SQL version of GarageKeeper is available, we will automate these
procedures and you can have a fully automatic connection to CustomerLink. We
expect this to take at least a year, possibly more depending on the how much
time is required to do the iSHOP implementation.
